This custom chevron door was made for a residential remodeling project in Charlottesville Virginia.
The diagonal pattern of the face was milled with our CNC Router.
Dimensions are 34" wide by 84" tall by 1 3/8" thick. It will be mounted on a barn door style sliding track though it is an interior door between a living room and hallway.
One of our tradition woodworking projects using modern machinery.
The door was fabricated by laminating a sheet of 3/4" cabinet grade plywood back to a sheet of 3/4" medium density fiber board as the face with marine grade two part epoxy.
Diamond hatch pattern milled one each material face to help strengthen the glueing process.
After the two part epoxy set up we laid the door slab on our CNC routing machine and milled the diagonal chevron pattern.
This scale could easily be edited for a smaller or larger version.
We routed a .25" wide dado (groove) around the entire perimeter to accommodate a spline to help hold on the .75" solid poplar banding.
The project was finished off with Sherwin Williams Retreat-SW-6207 satin finish.
