Fabrication of a Spherical Electric Vehicle (SEV) in Virginia. Built on an up-cycled used electric wheelchair. We Make Things, Interplanetary Things.
The Spherical Cubical Arc Reactor was in use at the IX Art Park in Charlottesville Virginia for several years. It held up surprisingly well for being made of two sheets of 1/2" plywood but would move around the weight of six adults. Originally unveiled at the IX Art Park during its first year with the Levitt Concert Series this was a hit of the concert goers wanting an immersive art experience. We offered rides during most of the concerts and other events during its tenure before being succeeded by the Dorkpod. The mechatronics component of the Spherical Cubical Arc Reactor has been decommissioned and the spaceship style bubble has been converted into a park bench. A second reengineered version is currently under production. They are rather large and not nearly as efficient for scooting around town which limits where we can use this. However they are super great fun for even venues or places with large open spaces. Runs about four hours on a full charge. Main Spherical Cubical Arc Reactor Video page.
