This is our build page for large format 4'x8' gantry style CNC routing machine we made at Tinkersmiths Makerspace. Digital fabrication is the heartbeat of our CNC service offerings and Digital Fabrication Services.Powerful NEMA 34 stepper motors makes this thing a total workhorse. Five horse power, 2.2KW 220 volt spindle runs from 8000 to 24000 RPM. Custom electronics along with custom post processor coding in the open source Linux CNC software running on a custom made computer. Designing and building motion control systems is a favorite of ours. Originally built in 2016 this CNC machine is still the heart of our digital fabrication business today. Recently (2019) upgraded to a water cooled spindle. We are in the process of designing our vacuum table system along with a fourth axis.
