We manufactured this very large DIY Knitting Nancy for a project at the IX Art Park in Charlottesville Virginia. As the park attendees weave more rope tubing large balls are inserted and becomes an unusual park bench. Part of a larger immersive art experience. Our view is art can be more of an on-demand participatory experience rather than just an observation from a viewer. Or to say this device is more for art creators than art consumers. Most Knitting Nancy's are small hand held devices. The one we built is dozens of times larger than the norm. Therefore the knitted results are substantially larger. Unfortunately we did not get any pictures of the resulting woven benches. There are other examples of this online which can be found with a simple web search. This was produced CNC milling the plywood rings with dowel holes. Then driving large dowels, maybe clothing rods with rounded top ends. though the holes.
