Flat-Pack Design is furniture, cabinetry, workspaces that are fabricated as flat parts designed to be quickly and easily assembled at the receiving destination.
Also known as Ready-to-assemble furniture (RTA), also known as knock-down furniture (KD), or kit furniture. This requires customer assembly and sometimes even finishing as it can be shipped unpainted or pre-painted. Separate components are packed in laying flat minimizing shipping requirements. Usually assembly can be done with basic hand tools such as screwdrivers and hex wrenches. Ready-to-assemble furniture saves on cost as the assembling process is opted in by the consumer. Producers and merchants benefits because the product is easier to store and to deliver. Production is typically plywood or composite based.
