Fabrication of a Spherical Electric Vehicle (SEV) in Virginia. Built on an up-cycled used electric wheelchair.
The Sphere has been in use at the IX Art Park in Charlottesville Virginia for a little over a year. Tinkersmiths Makerspace originally unveiled this during its first year with the Levitt Concert Series. We offered rides during most of the concerts as the sphere can hold up to six people at a time. The beta version known as the Spherical Cubical Arc Reactor is now being decommissioned and converted into a park bench. A second reengineered version is currently under production. They are rather large and not nearly as efficient for scooting around town as the Dorkpod. However they are super great fun for even venues or places with large open spaces.
