Milling foam is a common material that can be used for inexpensive trial runs before committing to more expensive materials. Creating 3D CNC tool paths is complicated even for an experienced automation technician. Mistake will happen. Denser machinable foam is optimal for architectural typography maps, architectural modeling, theatrical construction or various displays backdrops. Milling foam is useful for low cost presentation as opposed to complex model making. Can be used in creating shapes and forms for mold making for resin or composite castings or concrete. CNC milled or laser cut foam can also be used as a basis for a form where you layer a material overtop such as fiberglass. Milled foam is a common method of packaging with recess shapes cut for sensitive equipment, tools, electronics, etc. Please note we preferably support solid geometry models in the way of STEP files but understand some shapes are often better suited as mesh models. Mesh milling does require a significant more amount of CAM programming. If preferred we can quickly create scale architectural models of buildings and objects from 2D DXF, 3D STEP files which can be used to CNC mill 3d designed objects in high-density urethane foam, MDF, Plywood and other materials.
